About the Microenterprise Resource GuideThe Microenterprise Resource Guide is a project funded by the State of Alaska Department of Labor Customized Employment Program. The Customized Employment Program is a project funded by the US Department of Labor Office of Disability and Employment Policy to run from Oct. 1, 2002 through September 30, 2007. The Customized Employment Program works to model a more effective workforce development system for people with disabilities in the state of Alaska with the support and administration from the Alaska Workforce Investment Board. For additional information about customized employment see the Disability Services page or contact their program coordinator Sean O'Brien at 465-6969 or email Sean at sean_obrien@labor.state.ak.us Special Thanks:This site was developed by the UAA Center for Human Development Employment Team with special assistance from consultants Ric Nelson and Rachael Souther. Their work was essential to making this site accessible and usable for all. Additionally, we could not have developed this site or our services without the support, guidance and unending patience of the following individuals: Dave Hammis and Cary Griffin whose expertise in this field is undeniable and without whom we would know very little about successful microenterprise development. Millie Ryan and the Governors Council on Disabilities and Special Education - for all the funding and support provided over the years and a belief in our ability to support people with disabilities to be successful in their own businesses. RCEP7 staff Diana Beckley and Stephanie Messer. These ladies have helped Alaska to develop a system of benefit planning which allows us to educate folks about employment and self employment as an option for all people. Joe Skiba, Mike Callahan and Norciva Shumpert with Employment for All. We thank them for working with us in Alaska and including self employment as an important option for people who need customized employment. We thank them for their time and efforts. |
