Business Development Check List

This checklist provides some steps you will need to consider in starting your business. Not all businesses will need all of these steps or will complete all these steps in detail. You will need to decide which steps make sense for you and your business. If you need help, please contact the UAA Center for Human Development at any time and we can assist you.

Business Planning

1. Decide what kind of business you want to develop.

2. Learn as much as you can about the business or industry you have chosen.

3. Determine your personal and business potential.

4. Develop a support team or network of contacts to support you and your business.

5. Decide how you will organize your business .

6. Develop a business plan and a marketing plan.

7. Identify your financial needs.

Business Start Up

8. Purchase needed equipment such as tools, furniture, supplies, computer equipment, etc..

9. Purchase business license and register your business with the state of Alaska.

10. Make sure you have necessary permits, licenses and certification to conduct business.
